This mesmerizing, handcrafted wall hanging, Eclipse, is the fourth piece in the Inyanga collection, a series inspired by the Zulu word for "moon." This piece masterfully combines the materials and design elements of the previous works to create a captivating and harmonious statement.
Crafted with soft cotton cord and natural cowrie shells, Eclipse features a dynamic composition of concentric rings. The design beautifully balances light and shadow with its alternating layers of white, yellow, and various shades of grey. The central arrangement of cowrie shells forms a striking, stylised bloom, while additional shells punctuate the outer rings like planets in orbit. The piece's overall circular form, with its rich texture and fringed edges, evokes the powerful and fleeting moment of a celestial eclipse.
As the fourth piece in the Inyanga collection, Eclipse can be displayed as a standalone piece, or it can be arranged with the other pieces in a collage to create a full and breathtaking exhibition.
