I am working on a special new collection of hand bound journals, created using different traditional bookbinding techniques.
There are French Link Stitch journals, Coptic bound journals, paperback journals featuring original Cyanotype prints, leather bound journals, hardback journals
These new books are being created using the most sumptuous papers ... handmade Khadi papers, rich watercolour papers, gorgeous calligraphy papers.
Some of these books have decorated fore edges ... painted with inks and gouache and some are sprinkled with gold leaf.
And when you open these books, you'll be delighted by the pretty endpapers I have chosen.
You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.

This journal is covered with vintage Japanese kimono silk in a traditional blue and silver-grey design.
The pages are recycled cartridge art paper, so it can be used for journaling or sketching … or both!
The book was bound by stitching onto linen tapes. This form of bookbinding goes all the way back to medieval monasteries and later in the early print shops. Sewing on tapes emerged as a revolutionary method for creating a more durable and flexible book spines compared to tight back raised cord bindings. Bookbinders discovered that by carefully sewing sections onto linen tapes, they could produce books that rounded more easily, opened more smoothly, maintained structural integrity, and could withstand frequent use. (Thank you to my teacher, Moneeza Khan, for the background information!)
The fore edges of the book are decorated with lovely dark blue and gold inks. There is a hand-dyed silk bookmark stitched into the book.
The endpapers are a gorgeous blue and white Japanese Chiyogami paper. “Chiyo” means 1,000 generations and "gami” means paper. Originally the design was applied to handmade kozo paper with wood blocks, but today most chiyogami is produced with silkscreen techniques. (Thank you Wikipedia).
The book measures 8.5 inches by 6.5 inches.
