Full description
This ceramic sign has been made using white earthenware clay. I cut the shape by hand and added two holes for wire. The letters were individually stamped to read the quote "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet" by Shakespeare and then left to dry between two boards for over a week to help it stay flat. Once dry it was bisque fired, the black was then added to the lettering and a wax resist was applied over the letters (you may have seen this on instagram) I then glazed in a gorgeous speckled white and fired again to over 1000 degrees celsius. Once out of the glaze firing the decals were cut by hand and applied before the sign was put back in the kiln for a third firing. Wire was added so it can be hung on the wall.
Please note I have done my best to ensure the wire ends are tucked in and not sharp however these are handmade and not suitable for children.
This hanging sign measures 10.3cm high x 8.1cm wide (18.80cm high including the wire).
This has been been made with care over several days and fired three times in the ceramic kiln.
My handmade ceramics are priced to reflect the amount of time spent and materials used making each individual piece.
Due to the handmade nature no two are identical, this adds to the charm of each piece.
