This piece was inspired by the quiet surprises hidden in reclaimed wood. When I first cut into the red cedar pallet block, I discovered the rare "curly" grain—a natural wave in the wood that shimmers when it catches the light. It felt like uncovering a hidden treasure, something nature had been keeping secret inside a piece of forgotten timber.
By shaping it into a tealight holder, I wanted to let the glow of the flame bring that figure to life, highlighting the ripples and depth of the cedar. It’s a reminder that even the most ordinary materials can hold extraordinary beauty, just waiting to be revealed.

This unique tealight holder is handcrafted from upcycled red cedar, rescued from an old pallet and given new life. What makes this piece truly special is the rare "curly" grain effect in the wood. The natural rippling pattern creates a shimmering, almost three-dimensional look as light dances across the surface—an effect entirely formed by nature. The photographs have not captured this effect.
The warm reddish hues of cedar, paired with the flowing "curly" figure, make this small tealight holder both rustic and elegant. Compact in size yet full of character, it’s a perfect accent for cozy evenings, a thoughtful gift, or a sustainable décor piece that carries the story of transformation.
