Spun Cotton is a vintage folk craft technique originating in Germany in the mid 19th century. It takes several days to layer and shape the cotton over a wire armature and then let the piece dry naturally. The spun cotton is then hand painted. The art is slow and fiddly but the outcome is rewardingly beautiful.

Full description
Handmade miniature art doll with faux fur, long hair. This doll has been slowly made using wire armature which allows the head to swivel and arms to be bent and posed for display. This Morgen doll is hand painted with blue, grey skin and pretty face. Morgen wears an upcycled, striped cotton dress, hand sewn and adorned with surf inspired beads and raw edging. The cardigan is hand cut stretch knit. The entire outfit is sewn into place. Morgen comes with a waxed thread hanger for display. Morgen measures roughly 15cm tall. This is for decorative purposes only and not a toy. Witch is sent in recycled or recyclable packaging.
A Morgen is an aquatic spirit from Welsh mythology. Their name comes from ‘Mori-Genos’ or ‘sea-born’, reflecting that the creature originates from the oceans. The Morgens are evil beings, using their hypnotic voices to lure sailors to a watery grave. Those unfortunate enough to get close to a Morgen would be dragged underwater, never to be seen again. They are also able to cast powerful spells and create floods that destroy harvests and villages.
