This original abstract Oil painting depicts a small Harbour entrance. Many of this style of Harbour can be found throughout Britain, especially in coastal areas of the Scottish Highlands. These ancient Harbours were once bustling with the activity of landing Herring, a fish that was in abundance in the cold northern waters. The historical significance of Herring fishing was so crucial to many local Highland economies that these fish were known as " Silver Darlings".
Today, these Harbours, once bustling with Herring fishing, have adapted to the changing times. They are now used to land Crabs, lobsters, and other Shellfish, a testament to the resilience and adaptability of these coastal communities.
This oil Painting, in excellent condition, comes with hanging wire and measures 40cm ( 15.75 inches) square canvas. To ensure its longevity, it is recommended to keep it away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
