Recently we watched kingfishers in and around the river Derwent - their almost unreal colours flashing against the dark water. Here in Oxford I have seen them speed along by the old gas bridge - my cycle route to the city centre. I have always loved the shape, the old blue paint and orange rust of the bridge - links so well with the kingfisher colouring.
