This vessel was turned from a piece of spalted beech that had been resting for years, quietly developing its striking patterns as nature worked its way through the wood. When I began shaping it on the lathe, I wanted to honor the natural story already written in its grain — the sweeping lines, bold contrasts, and soft warmth of the beech. The form is simple and rounded to let the spalting take center stage, creating a piece that feels both organic and timeless. It’s a reminder that beauty often comes from imperfection and transformation.
