Malachite is a beautiful, vivid green stone with concentric swirls of black.
The colour comes from the presence of copper.
Mined in Egypt as early as 4,000 BC, it was used both for ornamental purposes and ground to a powder to form paint and cosmetics.
In the middle ages, Malachite was worn to ward off evil and to protect travellers.
It was believed the stone could detect impending danger, and would break as a warning to the wearer.
The merchants who traded in gemstones believed that Malachite attracted wealth, and would wear a piece of Malachite during transactions.

Full description
Each striking earring features a 12x8mm Malachite tie shaped focal stone, topped with a 4mm Malachite bead, 3mm faceted Green Onyx and 2mm faceted Obsidian beads, highlighted with 2mm copper spacers.
The Malachite 'tie' beads are a beautiful, vivid green with black markings, the faceted beads add a hint of sparkle and the copper adds warmth and shine.
The beads are threaded onto copper wire and hung from copper ear-hooks
Handmade in my home workshop here in beautiful Devon in the UK, these would make a gorgeous gift for a birthday, anniversary, best friend or as a treat for yourself.
These drop earrings measure approximately 1.5 inches (4cm), excluding the wires.
Your earrings will be wrapped in tissue and presented in a pretty organza gift bag.
Price includes delivery within mainland UK.
