Full description
Behold the awe-inspiring Falkirk Kelpies, a unique representation of equine grandeur. Nestled in the picturesque Helix Park in Falkirk, these colossal sculptures stand as the largest of their kind in the world. Towering at a majestic 100ft and each bearing the weight of over 300 tonnes of structural steel, they are a testament to human ingenuity and artistic prowess.
The Kelpie, a shape-shifting aquatic spirit, is deeply rooted in Scottish legend and folklore. Its name, possibly derived from the Scottish Gaelic words ‘cailpeach’ or ‘colpach’, meaning heifer or colt, evokes a sense of ancient mystery. These mythical creatures are believed to inhabit rivers and streams, often taking the form of a horse, adding a touch of enchantment to the Scottish landscape.
