Full description
A trio of Hollyhocks - inspired by a book of vintage 1930s embroidery transfers. My kit gives you everything you all the materials you need to sew your own beautiful version of textile history.
Suitable for both experienced embroiderers or confident beginners, the kit has a leaflet suggesting some suitable stitches for inspiration, but I am also happy to email you a pdf version of a tutorial explaining how I stitched it using Long-and-short, Blanket, French Knots and Split Stitch.
The finished Hollyhocks embroidered picture is 4 by 6 inches, and can be framed in a hoop or picture frame of your choice, or used in a textile project.
Your kit includes:
- a piece of Irish linen as the background fabric, plus lawn cotton as second layer
- a stick and sew paper with printed design
- DMC embroidery threads in a choice of 3 colour themes - see options
- Embroidery needle (John James size 7)
- Basic stitches guide, and stitch suggestions for this motif
You will need a pair of scissors, not provided.
OPTIONAL Embroidery hoop - while not essential, a hoop is helpful in holding your work taut as you sew. I suggest a minimum size 6 inch hoop for this project, and you can use any brand. The kit has an add-on option if you need to buy one, the brand is Elbesee.
