Full description
Sweet Pea - this lovely embroidery motif is based on a vintage motif transfer from the early 1900's. Available in a choice of stitch and sew adhesive material or non-stick stabiliser paper, both are easily dissolved with warm water, so you can start sewing without needing to transfer the image.
Ideal for adding embellishment to a delicate blouse or jean pocket, or frame it for a lovely little picture.
Traditionally vintage transfers were supplied as outlines, leaving the stitcher free to choose their own threads and stitches. What stitches will you use?
Sweet Pea is perfect for hand or machine embroidery, and will suit both modern and traditional embroidery techniques.
Motif size: 9 cm tall (3.5 inches)
Options:
- Stick and stitch (self adhesive) - peel off the backing and stick it to your fabric and stitch through it.
- Non stick stabiliser paper - tack in place and stitch through. Recommended for machine embroidery.
Once you have finished sewing, you soak the embroidery in warm water to dissolve the paper.
1 motif is supplied, with instructions for applying and dissolving the paper.
Detailed stitching instructions are not provided, however you can add on a optional stitch guide that shows many of the traditional hand stitches that would have been used in motifs like this one - for example thread painting, padded satin stitch, stem stich and couching.
