I transformed this original photograph of Tyneham Village into a digital art print to give this hauntingly beautiful Dorset scene a timeless, enduring quality — preserving a moment frozen in history forever. Tyneham, often called Dorset’s ghost village, was evacuated in late 1943 when the War Office requisitioned the land for military training during World War II, with the villagers never allowed to return. What remains today are evocative ruins nestled in the Purbeck Hills, silent cottages and empty doorways that speak of a community lost to the passage of time but still etched clearly on the landscape. By converting the scene into digital art, I wanted to emphasise the depth, texture and emotion of Tyneham’s only street - an artistic tribute to a place where time stood still and a visual reminder of its poignant history that can be enjoyed on your wall forever.
