I was going through a rough period when I decided to make Eric. We lost my partner's mother to cancer, I had just started a stressful new job and I had my own health scare - I felt completely lost.
My partner and I were watching the daft British sitcom 'Bottom' at the time and in one episode, the two characters (Eddie and Rick) make an explosive carrot with a smiley face. The simple smile on the carrot's face really made me chuckle and I knew I wanted to make a carrot of my own big enough to cuddle. I named him Eric, combining both character names, and here he is - my emotional support carrot :D

Full description
PDF crochet pattern only - not the actual toy.
Eric the (eco-friendly) emotional support carrot says Hi! I used yarn made entirely from 100% recycled plastic bottles – this wasn’t intentional, but I was drawn to the perfect carrot shade in the yarn store so it’s a happy accident that my Eric turned out to be as good for the environment as he is for cuddles on the sofa :)
Eric measures (head to tip): approx 10 in/25cm but the finished size will depend on the hook/yarn weight used.
I made Eric with super chunky yarn, but feel free to use any yarn weight you wish (just know that smaller versions can be a little less forgiving with the shaping)
Eric the carrot is worked in the round from the top-down and works up pretty quickly in chunky yarn - a motivating make for confident beginners!
Pattern has step-by-step photos throughout and explanations for stitch techniques (instructions in UK terminology)
