I love to walk in nature and during a recent trip to the wonderful Essex Wildlife Trust Fingringhoe Wick nature reserve I was blown away by the view and feeling if the Lake Hide. It's peacefulness made me want to sit there for hours!

Spend a peaceful and inspiring day immersed in nature and creativity at our 2D Needle Felting Workshop, set in the heart of the beautiful Fingringhoe Wick Nature Reserve. Nestled in one of Essex’s most treasured wild spaces, this unique workshop offers the perfect opportunity to slow down, observe the natural world, and create your own wool "painting" inspired by the stunning landscape.
Hosted in one of the reserve’s bird hides, you'll enjoy panoramic views across the lake – an ever-changing scene alive with birds, light, and movement. With expert guidance and all materials provided, you’ll learn how to “paint with wool” using 2D needle felting techniques. Whether you're a beginner or looking to develop your skills, our small class size ensures personal attention in a relaxed, supportive setting.
Throughout the day, take inspiration from the reserve’s rich wildlife – from marsh harriers soaring overhead to waders and waterfowl feeding in the shallows and let's not forget the amazing Nightingales! . There will be time to explore the reserve’s trails, visit the charming café and shop, and soak in the tranquil atmosphere.
At the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with your own unique felted landscape to take home – a lasting memory of a day spent connecting with nature through art.
This workshop runs from 1030 until approximately 3 pm with a tea break.
Please bring drinks/ food or purchase at the cafe.
Not suitable for children due to sharp needles.
