This painting began, like many of mine, in the quiet of early morning - when the world is quiet enough to hear its oldest stories. I've always been drawn to liminal times and places: dawn light, woodland paths, thresholds between seasons or sleeping and waking. These are the spaces where The Old Burrow was born - a hidden realm beneath ancient trees, where creatures carry quiet wisdom and stories drift like wood smoke.
This badger is a lantern bearer from the world of The Old Burrow - a land of rustling leaves, of soft light, and a heart quiet magic. I often think of these images as painted lullabies - a small revolution of quiet in a noisy world.
This card is for those who still believe in the in-between places, and who feel at home in the company of those who carry the light.
