Full description
The Fossil Hunter Necklace - this unique statement necklace was inspired by days at the beach at Runswick Bay and Whitby (Yorkshire) where we combed the sand for the miraculous treasure that is a fossil. The necklace is comprised of two kinds of freshwater pearls (metallic pink toned 'Biwa' stick pearls and little baroque egg shapes), with an asymmetrically positioned Czech glass ammonite bead to the side. Each pearl is hand knotted onto the Serafil 'silk' and the necklace is finished with a sterling silver ridged ball clasp.
This necklace measures 49cm - please note that the bust is not life sized so do check your own measurements to confirm desired fit. Photos and video were taken in natural light with a Google Pixel phone camera and not edited.
About these pearls: These pearls are vintage freshwater pearls and in this case are naturally pink. The stick pearls are commonly called 'Biwa' because some of the earliest cultured freshwater pearls were farmed in Lake Biwa in Japan and the name stuck, even as farmed freshwater pearls from other places began to dominate. The ones in this necklace are from China, as are the spacer pearls which vary in shape from nuggets to baroque rice shapes.
Your jewellery will come packaged in a cotton and linen pouch and gift box made from recycled materials.
