Full description

A hand stamped vintage nickel silver alloy tea spoon with a quote from the end of Voltaire's 'Candide':

'il faut cultiver notre jardin' ('we must cultivate our garden')

Is that about finding solace in creating meaningful change in your own community when you feel you can't do anything about all the big sh-t going down in the world? Or is it just about, erm, cultivating your garden to keep it nice? Either way you can stir your tea with it (or use it as an arty plant label) so ultimately these questions are of purely intellectual interest. It's a classic 'old english' plain teaspoon measuring approximately 13cm long.

This would make a fun little gift for a tea-loving writer or a literature-loving tea drinker, or why not just treat yourself?

This listing is for ONE spoon. You will receive the spoon shown in the photographs. Please study the photographs with care if signs of ageing and wear on your spoons bother you, because I don't want you to be disappointed. The lettering is coloured with a non-toxic, water-based acrylic ink. Wash carefully by hand.

I can do other wording to order so if there's another quote you'd like to see on a spoon, do please get in touch via the 'contact' link on the front page of my shop (you can click 'View shop' above the thumbnails at the bottom of this listing to get back there).
