Welcome to my Folksy shop. I design and make silver jewellery. My work combines a mixture of traditional silversmithing techniques alongside using silver clay, enamel and glass. Esther
I enjoy being outdoors in the countryside and growing up with parents interested in geography means I have always been fascinated by the landscape and natural landforms, so there is no surprise it has made its way into my jewellery. Mountains are timeless and although we have hills here in Sowerby we certainly don't have mountains! I love how the moon can connect us, wherever in the country we are we can see it.

The Art of the Slow Craft:
This is not a mass-produced piece; it is a labour of love that took an entire week to construct.
The Foundation: The pendant began as a ceramic core, meticulously coated in five layers of recycled silver clay.
The Landscape: I hand-built the mountain scenery layer by layer, using thin sheets of hand-textured silver to create the depth and shadow of a moonlit range.
The Finish: After kiln-firing to transform the clay into solid silver, the piece was hand-polished to a high shine to catch the light like moonlight on snow.
