Nestled in the hills above Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire I design and make silver jewellery in my little workshop.
We are lucky to have countryside views and walks straight from the doorstep and as a result I spend a lot of my time outdoors and enjoy taking photographs of the world around me, using nature as my inspiration I incorporate the patterns and textures into my work.
Caring for the planet is really important to me so the silver I use is 100% recycled, much of it in the form of silver clay. In order to add some colour to my pieces I use fused glass and enamels, all ethically sourced from small UK suppliers.
Silversmithing is still a relatively new adventure. I used to work as a primary school teacher but turned to a less stressful and demanding occupation when my health was severely impacted by ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Making the decision to put my health first I now have the flexibility to work around my energy levels and this has allowed me to manage so much more, it has been the best thing I could have ever done for my well-being and can recommend it!
