Hi, I am Esther and I design and make all the silver jewellery you see here in my little workshop, nestled in the hills above Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire. We are lucky to have green fields and open moorland very nearby and as a result I spend a lot of my time outdoors. I enjoy taking photographs of the world around me and use all the nature on the doorstep as my inspiration, incorporating patterns and textures into my work.
Caring for our planet is really important to me so the silver I use is 100% recycled, much of it in the form of silver clay. In order to add some colour to my pieces I use fused glass, minerals and enamels, all ethically sourced from small UK suppliers.
Silversmithing is still a relatively new adventure. I used to work as a primary school teacher but turned to a less stressful and demanding occupation when my health was severely impacted by ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I now have the flexibility to work around my energy levels and this has allowed me to manage so much more, it has been the best thing I could have ever done for my well-being and I can recommend it!
