A hare brooch, inspired by my love of hares, folklore and mythology set with a moonstone cabochon.
I love creating jewellery with a narrative. When I begin a piece, I never quite know where my work will take me and it's very therapeutic to let my imagination run wild! A brooch is a perfect way to explore more pictorial pieces.
Measuring approx 43 x 18 mm (total length 43mm) the brooch features a 1mm diameter sterling silver pin - suited to heavier weight fabrics.
Sterling Silver - Hallmarked by Sheffield Assay Office.
Making process:
Each piece I create is made using traditional jewellers tools; these include a jewellers saw to pierce out shapes, hand engravers, metal punches and hammers to create detail and texture, with a fair bit of soldering, filing, sanding and polishing. My finished work is oxidised to highlight the detail in each piece.
I started making jewellery in 2005 and my inspiration has remained constant over the years; a deep love of nature, wildlife, folklore and mythology; feeling connected to our ancient ancestors through the beautiful landscape of the British Isles and my love of history.
