Full description

These Yarn Ball Winders are hand made in my workshop in the West Pennine Moors of Lancashire from locally sourced, solid hardwoods such as Cherry, Beech, Maple, Oak, Ash & Walnut.

Designed to make winding wool or yarn simple and easy to do, these are used for knitting, crocheting or weaving. The end of the yarn is attached through the slot at the end of the tool before being wound onto the shaft. This leads to a centre-pull ball of yarn or wool which sits on the table or surface better without rolling around when used and allows for a more even tension.

The Yarn Ball Winder has a handle of approximately 8cm which is designed to be comfortable in the hand. A short, wider section acts as a stopper and the divide between the handle and shaft. The length of the shaft varies depending on the size that you order, allowing for variations in the size of yarn ball. The shaft is available as 12cm, 17cm or 22cm lengths giving total lengths of 20cm, 25cm & 30cm (8", 10" or 12" including just over 3" handle). If you need a special length, please send me a message.

The 3 woods on the first photo are from left - Cherry, Beech and Maple. On the second photo, Oak is at the top and Ash underneath.

Made to order, usually in just a few days, these Yarn Ball Winders are sanded to an ultra-fine finish before receiving a coat of lacquer and finally buffed to a high shine using my own oil & beeswax blend.

Postage is Royal Mail in UK and Worldwide
