The Half-cone sticks are larger than normal, 50% bigger than my standard set. I have included photos of the comparison sizes and this listing is for the larger size in each case - set of 5. Also available as individual items in a separate listing although the pack of 5 is the best value for starting with half-cones
Used in certain types of embroidery or stumpwork, a half-cone stick is usually sewn into a piece of work and used as a framework for a flower or similar decoration. Made from a straight, close grained hardwood such as maple, sycamore, cherry or walnut, sanded to a very high grit for smoothness and then finished with a light layer of my own oil wax blend, these sticks should last a lifetime.
The sticks are available in a variety of sizes and can be made to order. A large set pictured includes sizes 25 x 10mm (pointed), 67 x 20mm, 42 x 18mm, 48 x 15mm (pointed) and 27 x 18mm all with a handle of approximately 40mm. The end of each stick is sanded flat on one side to lay against the fabric and is attached to the fabric using either the two holes in the head of the stick or the 2 grooves notched into the handle.
Comes as a set of 5 different sizes. On the photo, Cherry is on the left, Beech in the middle and Maple on the right.
