Full description
A hand painted, glass-fronted cabinet (formerly used for hanging keys), containing a little paper mache doll in red cape - she hangs by a jump ring from a hook at the back. Her body is decorated with poinsettia paper napkin pieces, and her cape is made from burgundy cotton fabric, embellished with embroidery, seed beads, sequins, and lined with a William Morris-style leaf fabric; she is approximately 19cm tall. Her basket is handmade using paper-covered florist wire, painted, and lined with red and white gingham. She is surrounded by toadstools, one of which hides a message on its stem when you remove the cap … ‘The woods are magical’. Her friend, Wolf, lies on the top of the cabinet overseeing his charge (he, too, is made of paper mache). All elements of this mixed media piece are finished with chalk paint and wax.
This piece can be wall mounted or standalone, perhaps to be purposed as a book shelf insert.
PLEASE NOTE: this is a colletable piece and is delicate; it should be handled with care. As with all of my items, this is not a toy and should be kept out of the reach of children, owing to small components and/or sharp edges.
