I have been involved in many wildlife campaigns, and most especially opposing the badger cull for more than a decade, and so after all that strife, I wanted to make a sculpture of wildlife properly relaxed and in its natural state, free of persecution from man. I particularly love this downward pointing pose and all the intersecting curves that come with it. I love that the tail is crumpled on one side and not on the other, as that tells the story of how this vixen slept just before she had this big stretch. I love the curve of the tongue and it's tiny counter curve right at the tip. In sculpting this the more I looked the more I saw and she was a joy to sculpt.

Full description
A red fox vixen maquette, of a quarter life sized red fox just waking up, with crumpled fur on her tail from where she has been lying asleep, all in my characteristic contemporary Art Deco styling. Dimensions: 29cm L x 11cm H x 7cm W. Limited edition: of 50, early editions are available. Stylistically simplified but still very life like down to the smallest detail of a curling tongue, with an opposing flick right at its tip, and sharp white canine teeth.
Superbly finished and patinated at Castle Fine Art Foundry, and beautifully realised in metal by their excellent team, I was wowed away when I first saw this finished sculpture. She is even more lovely in real life than photographs can convey, and exceeded my expectations. She feels lovely in the hand too as the surface is smooth to the touch, which invites the hand to stroke. Each is individually patinated at the foundry and so there are small natural variations in the colouring. I am happy to send you photos of the editions I have in stock for you to chose from.
