This listing is for a custom made very large, heavy and beautifully craved cold war chess set with an East verses West theme.
This collection of Chess pieces represent the various movers and shakers in the cultural and political world of the 1960's and 1970's and are very hard to come by.
The set is probably the most striking chess set that I have ever seen. It never fails to draw attention and is generally the talking point at any parties or family get togethers.
This wonderful collection of chess pieces are substantial and weighty and offer the player a very physical experience (apart from also looking fantastic).
The chess set is large with the king being around 15.5cms tall. The minimum sized chess board for this set would be a 60cm board. The West king & Queen sit at a slight angle within the 5.5cm squares.
This collection of individually handmade figurines creates a wonderful and intriguing presence and is an absolute joy to look at and play with and muse over whom each of the characters are.
The chess set has been cold cast in reconstructed stone and hand painted in an Antique age effected finish to enhance and compliment the beautiful sculptural chess set design.
