This was made by upcycling 2 table placemats. I loved the colour combination and the stripes, they just screamed tote bag to me.

Full description
This is a sturdy striped heavy cotton tote or laptop bag. It has been embellished with with sequin and mirror trims, appliqués and a beaded tassel.
The back has some embellishment but nothing that is going to catch or damage clothing.
The handles are made from cotton handmade I-cord so they are strong and can carry a bit of weight. They've been machine stitched in place to give extra strength.
The bag is unlined but has a small double pocket inside, which is big enough for a phone, keys and pens.
The bag is a good size as can be seen in the pictures. I fitted all of the things in one of the photos inside.
It is open at the top but deep enough to keep valuables safe in the bottom. It can be worn cross body style or over your shoulder. The straps can be shortened by tying a knot.
Great for work or as a book bag.
The seams are on the outside and have been done with a double zigzag stitch for strength.
I suggest spot cleaning with soap and water by hand. I find baby wipes are great for that as well. I don't really recommend machine washing as it will damaged the embellishments.
