I’ve been working with glass for over 20 years now. Ever since I first picked up my chosen glass and glass cutter, I’ve been hooked. I am fascinated by the properties of glass, the array or colours and the processes that that can be used to create different effects. There is always something new to learn and new tools and materials to invest in. It really is addictive!

What I especially love about working with glass are the colours. From crystal clear to shimmery dichroic to opaque pure blocks of colour that will never fade or dull.

I hope I’ve made you curious about the wonderful world of glass too!

Full description

Fused glass freestanding piece, inspired by my love of the flowers that grow in my garden. I've used tones of turquoise and green coloured glass. This would make a lovely gift and looks lovely either on a mantelpiece or shelf, or on a window sill.

To make this piece I cut transparent art glass into 2 identical shapes and trapped handcut copper stems between the layers. I painted an oxide onto the glass which turns into hundreds of tiny bubbles in the kiln. This is then slowly fused in my kiln overnight to form a solid clear base. I then cut and shaped art glass leaves in tones of green and arranged onto the pre-fired background. I then added dichroic glass dots to add interest to the design. This all goes back into the kiln for a second slow overnight firing at a lower temperature to tack fuse the leaves and dots onto the transparent background. This lower temperature means the flowers, dots and petals stand slightly proud of the glass, to give it a slightly 3D effect. When completely cooled, I then put the piece into the kiln a third time to slowly slump it over a ceramic mould, giving it it's freestanding curve s

Size approx: 12cm by 6cm by 10cm.

Item comes securely packaged and wrapped in my signature turquoise tissue paper, sticker and string. A gift message can be included, just contact me to let me know.
