The power and the majesty of water falls has always captured my imagination. so much so I wrote this poem when I got home, here is part of it.
Crunch go the stones
Beneath my feet
As I walk below the boughs of the trees over head
The sun peaks through now and again
Sparkling silver light upon the path.
My ears hear the rumblings ahead
Slowly the rumblings become louder
A rising crescendo
My eyes stare out into the light ahead
Beyond the leafy margins
The stark cold stone face rising up
Up out of a murky frothing brew.
The noise so wonderful
Yet terrifying
And there before you
Stands the force of nature
Nature beating against herself.
Her force pushing crashing down
Water against rock
Crashing churning frothing
As she passes through the chasm

Full description
High Force, a majestic waterfall in the North Pennines, is a natural wonder. The River Tees plunges 70 feet over a rocky precipice, creating a powerful cascade that thunders into a deep pool. Surrounded by lush greenery and dramatic cliffs, High Force offers a breath-taking spectacle of nature's raw beauty.
As an award winning landscape photographer you are rewarded for your time, patience and ability when you can witness and capture moments through your lens. High force with its thunderous sound as it crashes down the rock face just excites and makes you wonder at its power. It demands respect.
