The wool used for this rug was donated from the crofters on two neighbouring crofts. The chocolate brown areas are Shetland wool (from Shetland sheep originating from Shetland) and all the other colours come from one blue texel fleece. I just love the variation in colours you can get from these fleeces and when I weave, I try to highlight the natural beauty of the wool in each item.
Woven, by hand, on my Dryad floor rug loom, on my croft, in my loom room, in the far north Scottish Highlands.
