Full description
A pretty summer design featuring a a mass of bright red poppies. Tiny diaies and a distant cottage, with yellow roses over the door, add further interest.
The background of this design has been created by needle felting wool fibres into a scrap of quilt backing. The background has then been stitched to fabric reclaimed from a vintage tablecloth. Details of the design have been added in simple hand embroidery using threads (some of which are vintage) and using vintage 3 ply wool. Poppies in the foreground have been stitched in silk ribbon.
The embroidered design is gathered over a recycled DVD.
The back of the plaque is neatened with commercial felt and a hanging loop, of button-hole stitch in cotton, is securely stitched in place.
Height (excluding hanging loop) - 12.5 cm approx.
