Cromer Pier, a landmark in North Norfolk, has a history dating back to the 14th century. The first recorded structure was a wooden jetty built in 1391 for the local fishing industry. In 1822, a wooden pier was constructed for visitors, but it was destroyed by a storm in 1838. A second iron pier was built in 1846, but it also succumbed to storm damage in 1895. The current pier, built in 1901, is a 500-foot-long structure with an iron and steel framework. It features the Pavilion Theatre, famous for hosting the last "end of the pier" variety show in Europe. Despite facing significant storm damage over the years, the pier has been continually restored and remains a beloved and resilient symbol of Cromer’s seaside heritage. Today, it's a hub for entertainment, fishing, and tourism, and is a Grade II listed building.
