When the tree from which this timber came was damaged in a storm late in 2021 I had only just started woodturning and had no idea what we might do with it, but I was given some of the timber rather than it all go for chipping or firewood. I sealed it as best I knew and left it to season for the past 3 years.

This bowl comes from a larger piece I sectioned up with a chainsaw before mounting it on the lathe and turning it using gouge and scrapers, whilst being very careful not to catch my knuckles on the bark. The bark has preserved beautifully and contrasts beautifully with the warm golden brown of the wood itself
