Full description
This beautiful sterling silver locket is a lovely gift for a milestone birthday, an anniversary or to mark a special occasion. It has a Scottish Lewisian Gneiss gemstone set in silver and a tiny little butterfly. This gemstone is the oldest in Scotland at 3000 million years and is believed to encourage the wearer to believe in magic, open up the locket and see if you do too.
I have handmade the locket using traditional techniques and recycled sterling silver. A little silver and gold butterfly sits at the side of the locket and 24 kt gold foil is applied using the ancient technique of Keum Boo. Inside the locket is a silver and gold Scottish primrose flower and a tiny little star.
The diameter of the gemstone is 10 mm, and the locket has a diameter of 14 mm and a total depth of 13 mm (including the stone). You can choose the chain length from the menu.
The Scottish gemstone locket has been hallmarked at the Edinburgh Assay Office and it will be delivered gift wrapped. Other pieces of Scottish gemstone jewellery are also available from Thistledown Wishes.
