Dichroic glass has to be the most perfect glass for a glass addict like myself as it has a wonderful shimmer and positively magical colour changing properties.. And when you add patchwork to the equation.. well it is just magic.Please note that these pieces are one-offs and unrepeatable. I can make similar but unless I make them together I cannot exactly match something already made.
I designed another pendant like these first for myself. I had a rather important event to attend the Theo Paphitis SBS Event 2024 where I was presented with my own award for my Joysofglass business. I therefore needed to wear eye catching glass so I wore my very own piece of glass art round my neck.

Full description
The patchwork dichroic 3 layer glass cabochons for my pendants are all unique and handmade, by me, with love.
They are fused in my glass kiln to very high temperatures, 1500 degrees F and annealed for strength.
They each comprise layers of carefully handcut glass,with the middle dichroic layer magically reflecting or refracting different colours as they catch the light.
The pendants are three layers of glass. Coloured base layer, a dichroic layer and a topping clear layer.
I've designed this as an extra large, in your face piece of glass art to wear as a pendant. Totally patchworked with a full internal layer of dichroic glass it is really rather dramatic and certainly eyecatching.
I've tried to capture the different colours by taking several photos to give you a good idea of the colour variations as the glass catches the light. The photos describe the pendant better than any words I can choose.
The pendant hangs from a silver plated bail which is securely glued to the back of the cabochon using E6000 strongest glue.
This is approximately 6 x 4 cm. I make no guarantee of absolute symetry.
The pendant is supplied with a lovely silver plated chain, 18cm.
I post these out in a luxury white gift box, first class, large letter. See next to last photo.
The last photo shows the 5 other silver chain pendants my kiln made in the same little batch.
I also have a set with gold chains.
