Hello and welcome to my Folksy shop. All items are designed and made by me in Sheffield.

I create unique objects and jewellery from a combination of metals including silver, copper and brass.
Here in my Folksy shop you will find a range of copper and brass bowls with patinated and oxidised finishes and a small range of jewellery created using recycled silver offcuts from my larger projects.
I am happy to take on commissions so please don't hesitate to get in touch.
I can also adapt my designs if you want something bigger or smaller or with a different finish. I am passionate about making things in metal and particularly using traditional hammer forming techniques.
I love to play with different surface finishes in my work. After many years of chemically oxidising (blackening) the surface, I undertook a period of research and development into non-toxic patination. I still do some oxidised work but wanted to try different colours so decided to look at alternative ways using things you would find in your kitchen cupboards. Some of the things I have worked with so far include vinegar, soy sauce, hendersons relish, rice, sawdust and barley. I am now bwginnning to apply these finishes to some of my copper bowls.

Decorative copper bowl with hammered and oxidised finish. Hand raised copper bowl, one of a kind.

Oxidisation is used to highlight the beautiful pattern created during the hammer raising process. The surface has been finished with renaissance wax to protect the finish, do not polish the surface.
Copper is a wonderful metal to work with due to the amazing range of colours produced during the oxidising process. Oxidising will occur naturally over time and the surface of the bowl will change, which I just think adds to the beauty and tells the story of the users interaction.
Packaging
Your handmade bowl will come packaged for protection and safe delivery to you. Please note I aim to use minimal packaging and where possible I will use recycled and recyclable packaging.
