A part of my university studies, I created this piece with inspiration from feminist history and gothic culture. Inspired by the story of Judith and her many representations through out art history.

About the Piece:
Gorgon Women is Valerie's latest series of work, exploring the taboo nature of female rage. She has investigated classical art and ancient history in order to create the narrative of her work. In this she uses characters and figures to express the more modern question of women and ownership of one's self. The common trait of all women represented in the paintings share the same concept of self ownership, allowing violence to enter and relinquish subservience.
Designed by Lilliy Valerie in East Sussex
