This piece was produced for an exhibition entitled "Time and Tide Wait for No Man" aimed at creating awareness and discussion around climate change. The theme evoked for me ideas around the passing of time and how our planet is slowly eroding like the driftwood itself.
The artwork was inspired by the contours and grains in the wood... the ghost ship is weathered by it's eternal journey...it's now looking for a place to rest!

This artwork depicts a ghost ship, broken and battered by an eternity on the high seas!
The piece is created using pyrography - the art of burning into wood - and is done by hand not lasers, following the natural contours and grains in the wood.
It was created for an exhibition around climate change in 2017 where it received a runner's up award. It has travelled around with us at many events and shows since then but never found a permanent home, and has spent the past few years in storage.
We have decided to donate all profits from the sale of this piece to Neptune's Pirates (formerly Sea Shepherd UK) in the hope that it can finally find a place to rest!
It is strung across the back for ease of hanging.
Dimensions are approx 95cm long x 20cm high. The shape of the wood curves out from the wall to a maximum depth of 22cm.
