I saw samples of these temperature blankets on social media and wanted to have a try for myself! I did not realise how big the task was, and was quite glad when it was finished! However it would be an excellent buy for someone affected by the loss of the winter fuel allowance.

Full description

A large crocheted temperature blanket to keep in the winter warmth. It was a project for a whole year (2023) as each row signifies a day of the year, mirroring the midday temperature recorded in Cranwell, Lincolnshire (my local weather station). The blanket displays ten colours, predominantly in yellow and brown shades, with each colour denoting a temperature range of 3 degrees, becoming darker as temperatures increase. It begins and concludes with cooler hues, while the middle features warmer, darker browns of summer. Interestingly there are very few days in the coolest project for a range, and even fewer with crisp sparkly white for days below 0 degrees Divisions for each month are accentuated with a woven thread.

Crafted from premium acrylic yarn sourced from a distinguished Yorkshire supplier, the blanket measures roughly 48 inches by 74 inches, making it an ideal size for a double bed or cosy family gatherings in front of the television.

An ideal gift to remember a special year (birth, wedding etc)or for those affected by the loss of the winter fuel allowance

A similar throw in shades of pinks and purples is also available.

Designed by Sue Frecklington in Skellingthorpe, Lincs
