The inspiration behind this piece is the classic poem The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe.
During the initial planning of the print whilst working on the composition, I found that the bust of Pallas worked best in an elongated form. Which drew me towards the portraiture of Modigliani. To my mind the works of Poe and Modigliani seemed to fit neatly together.
For the short quote from the poem I used a font that felt contemporary to the poem and Poe, but also projected a sense of the scrawling of a disturbed mind; perhaps scratched into a wall.
