I was inspired to paint this whilst on a walk near where I live in West Sussex. I notice how beautiful these common plants are. I love to paint the more understated plants and flowers, to try and elevate them. I love the way that the flowers on this plant expand out, almost looking like fireworks. In my work I also like to make the background an interesting part of the painting to look at, not just an afterthought.
