Full description
This textile brooch has been made from scraps of fabric. The base of the front was a sample that I've kantha-stitched 2 small pieces of fabric to, before adding the flower. The flower is made from rough decreasing circles of fabric and has red beads at the centre . The leaves are made from a polka dot fabric. I've added further decoration of an antique brass button and a brass washer that I've wrapped with gold thread. The bottom of the brooch has a dangly row of red glass beads. The back of the brooch is made from red cotton salvaged from a damaged napkin. There is a new, but vintage, safety pin to attach the brooch to clothes etc and an Elsie May and Bertha label too.
The brooch is 6.5cm tall (not including the beads) and 5.5cm wide.
Designed by Louise Oakes in Egremont, Wirral
