Full description
“ Thursday’s Child Has Far To Go.” This young lady is certainly going somewhere with her suitcase and handbag. I wonder where? She has her best dress on, over a frilly underskirt and a little lacy vest to keep the morning chill at bay. Her golden locks are topped off with her Sunday hat which has a nice blue, crocheted lacy trim.
Her name is PIA, which means pious or honourable. Only her lacy vest and hat are removable due to the way she is constructed. The pictures show the crocheted parts ready to assemble, in this case, the underskirt is attached to the body, the dress is put over the prepared body, the sleeves are put over the prepared arms, then attached to the body. The legs are worked feet and socks, add boots, finish legs, continue with body- very interesting. The handbag is separate and of course her suitcase is. This crocheted suitcase measures 5 3/4” long x 4” wide and 2 1/4” deep. It has all the straps, corner protectors, handle and luggage label a full sized one has and even opens to show a fully lined interior which matches her handbag and boots.
I crocheted her in Schachenmayr Catania cotton from an Amigurumi pattern by CAROcreated, available on Ravelry. She comes with a metal stand as shown and therefore measures 17” high, ready to to be put on display as an example of a truly hand-crafted doll which has taken many hours to complete.
