The idea is to create something new from old, the finished piece isn't meant to be perfect. Instead, retain marks, stains and scratches, part of the original character of the ceramic. All Sterling Silver is either recycled or repurposed.
Jewellery boxes are made from FSC®-certified cardboard and water-based glue. Jewellery box inserts are made from tall oil, a by-product of wood pulp industry. All paper, card, glue, inks and delivery boxes used are made from recycled materials.
The idea is to create something new from old, found by chance unique, full of history and character. To present and deliver Eco Friendly gifts in Sustainable Packaging.
I love collecting ceramic discarded, lost, forgotten, damaged or just not wanted any more. Favourite places are rivers and beaches, but also find great things at recycling centres and charity shops. I’m lucky to live near the River Tees, Co Durham and often walk the banks picking up broken glass, pottery anything that can be cleaned and re-worked and crafted into something new. Bits and bobs found by chance waiting to find new homes.

Additional terms
Hand crafted Jewellery and framed artworks using pre loved and discarded ceramics. Ceramic material will show signs of wear and damage. Entire process is a creative experience from discovery to final picture, nothing planned or preconceived. All materials personally collected from river banks, charity shops, recycle centres, beaches, wherever dropped, dumped or donated ceramics are found, cleaned and shaped into new stories. Each piece comes with a short bio of where the ceramic came from, date found and re-created. Some shards collected are used as found, others are cut randomly which shape the final work. Every piece is individual, nothing replicated, however, due to repetitive patterns in ceramics there will be some similarity but only through the ceramic material not in the final piece.

I love collecting anything broken, lost or found by chance. The River Tees banks often gets boggy during heavy rains. The downpours expose all sorts of broken pot, glass, bits of pipes and wonderful oyster shells.
I found a lovely chunky shard of ceramic, sitting face up with swirling blue patten. After a thorough clean I gently drilled a hole and clipped the piece into shape. I wanted to be able to preserve the pattern but unfortunately the glaze started to break off so I sanded to the point where the glaze is completely stable. This has created a unique pendant, the shine still remains on the glaze and there are some scratches but I managed to at least keep part of the central swirl. Front glaze in tact, back and sides smoothed and sealed with eco friendly non toxic matt sealant.
The idea is to re-use the ceramic found but keep its original character. The finished item is not meant to be perfect, exact or highly polished. Each piece will have marks or scratches, these are signs of use, its journey and age.
Pendant measures approximately 29mm x 18mm (widest) x 4mm
