Item details
This pendant is a portrait of the enormous, magnificent birds who spend their long lives soaring amid the mountainous seas of the southern oceans.
With recorded wingspans of over 12 feet Albatrosses are one of the world’s largest birds. Albatrosses are known to form 'Pair Bonds', a scientific term that implies a lifelong monogamous relationship.
Yachtsmen and women skilled enough to sail in the high southern latitudes have recorded these giants following their boats for days on end.
In days of old the albatross was seen as a fellow traveller by lonely sailors. They believed the albatross brought good luck for the crew and symbolizes the delicate balance between humanity and the ocean.
