Spalted beech is a naturally marked wood. The design is made by fungal spores entering the wood when the tree has died. This tree was removed from a garden when it became dangerous by the road side.
I fashion items depending on the quality and shape of the logs available. It is impossible to predict the spalted pattern; every one uniquely created by nature! This particular log leant itself to this particular design by its shape.
