Pretty necklace featuring a 12 x8mm Green Aventurine nugget pendant topped by a 2mm Onyx spacer, a 3mm laser cut sterling silver 'stardust' bead, a trio of AAA grade faceted Black Spinel beads. The pendant sits between a pair of 6mm Green Aventurine beads that are flanked by the same pattern of silver and Spinel beads as the pendant, followed by 6mm Green Aventurine and Black Obsidian beads, interspersed with faceted Black Spinel highlighted with tiny 2mm sterling silver spacers. The necklace graduates to 4mm Green Aventurine embellished with Black Spinel. The piece fastens with a Tibetan silver toggle clasp shaped like a rose. This easy to fasten clasp is nickel and lead free. The Black Spinel beads are beautifully faceted to give a subtle sparkle when they catch the light. The Green Aventurine beads are a lovely, fresh, sage green colour. This necklace measures approximately 16.5 inches (42cm), excluding the pendant, which is 1.25 inches (3cm) in length. Your necklace will be wrapped in tissue and presented in a pretty organza gift bag. Price includes delivery within the UK.

Aventurine is a form of Chalcedony, a compact and microcrystalline Quartz. Green Aventurine, like most green stones, is thought to bring inner peace, tranquility and enhance self-esteem. It is sometimes called the the Stone of Luck, or the Gambler's stone, as it is believed that carrying a piece of Aventurine in the left pocket will attract wealth and good fortune. Aventurine is not listed as a birthstone, but the green variety is often used and an alternative to Emerald (May) and Peridot (August). Black spinel is very durable and has high reflectance, making it an excellent stone for jewellery. The AAA quality faceted beads I have used here are just beautiful, so shiny and sparkly that it is easy to understand why black spinel was often mistaken for black diamond. In July 2016, Spinel was named a new birthstone for the month of August by the American Gem Trade Association, alongside Peridot.
