This is a luxuriously soft, ethical, hypoallergenic shawl. It's perfect for a wedding, christening or any special occasion and would make a beautiful gift for a special person.

It can also be worn as a scarf if preferred so you can continue to enjoy it after the special day. It is beautifully soft and light with a lovely drape and would make a great heirloom.

The heart motif is accentuated over the shoulders and repeated again along the bottom edge. Each heart has an Ivory Pearl bead produced by Miyuki, who are renowned as one of the best glass bead manufacturers in the world. I've added more of these beads along the edge points. All the beads are knitted into the shawl so they're very secure.

The shawl is a semi-circle and measures 60" (152cm) across the top, with a drop of 30" (76cm). If you would like one in a different colour please get in touch.

The yarn I chose for this shawl is a mix of 80% baby alpaca and 20% Tussah silk, both of which are naturally hypoallergenic.

"Baby" alpaca is the name given to the yarn from the first shearing which is especially soft. The fleeces are from UK alpaca farms so you can be assured that they meet good animal welfare standards.

Tussah silk is also known as Peace Silk and Vegan Silk because, unlike Mulberry silk, silk worms are not harmed during its production. The yarn is also dyed in the UK.

Hand wash, dry flat and do not tumble dry.

I fell in love with the yarn after using it to make some baby socks and hats. I had made a few smaller shawls but really wanted to make one for special occasions and one which would (hopefully!) be handed down as an heirloom.
