Full description
These shell studs are made from aluminium which I have dyed black and printed in gold with a shell design. The dye is made permanent by sealing through heat and becomes part of the metal. I saw out the shell shapes by hand using a jeweller’s saw and dome them inwards so that they catch the light when worn.
Aluminium can’t be soldered so the shell is fed on to a 3mm sterling silver ball stud which threads through the shell and when worn, holds the shell in place on the earlobe by pressure from the butterfly behind. The studs can be worn by themselves too.
The shells measure approximately 15mm x 14mm.
These are seconds because the print looks a bit uneven as shown in the photo.
