The iconic Welsh Pony is one of the most recognisable of our native ponies and comes with loads of personality and charm. The Chestnut colour is probably less common than dappled grey and makes a pretty contrast out on the green mountainside. Anyone who knows these ponies will tell you they can be very stubborn but are a lively and rewarding ride. They have a long history of success both in the show ring and as an indispensable work horse on upland farms. Still popular as good all round leisure ponies, their role on the farm is changing and now its rarer to see a pony being used when rounding up sheep, quad bikes are replacing their role on the Welsh farm.
